Laurie Kmen is a full-time artist living in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She produces handmade paper from a variety of fibers and recycled sources, creates mixed media pieces and instructs art workshops.
Laurie’s college and graduate school background in biology and environmental policy strongly influence her art as the natural environment plays a huge role in both themes and materials.
Originally from Saratoga Springs, NY, she attended Wells College and lived in Vermont, Minnesota and Nebraska before moving to west Michigan in 2001.
